October safety blitz raises crime awareness October saw assorted formations set off a series of crime prevention drives. Officers distributed anti-robbery stickers to taxi drivers in Tsim Sha Tsui East on October 28, which carried Crime Prevention Bureau hotline and contact information and messages encouraging drivers to use code words to communicate with control centres in emergencies. The public was urged on October 25 to prevent head-bashing robberies by staying in areas of good lighting and keeping valuables covered up. About 50,000 plastic bags carrying crime prevention messages were distributed to newspaper vendors across Hong Kong Island. A Community Policing Scheme was launched in Mei Foo Sun Chuen in which a Station Sergeant co-ordinated responses to crimes.
