PPD proving popular On-line for less than a year, the Police Phone Directory (PPD) has proven a hit clocking-up about 100,000 users so far. Available on the Police Intranet (POINT), the directory was the first Force-wide Information Systems application to make use of new web-based technology. It reads details in the Personnel Information Communal System (PICS), such as officer names, ranks, postings, office telephone and UI numbers. By just entering one of these and pressing 'GO!' you can get all the details. You can also do batch searches. For instance, if you want to know all the Divisional Commanders just enter 'DVD' and press 'GO!' Or to find all the names of officers in Patrol Sub-Unit Three, Chai Wan Division, just enter 'SU3 CWDIV' and press 'GO!'. However, officers in sensitive postings are not listed for security reasons and if your details are not correct you should ask your General Registry to update them. If no office number is entered for an officer the system will automatically list the telephone number of your General Registry. Further information can be found in the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section of PPD. If you have any further queries call the Information Technology Branch Helpdesk on 2860-3444. << Back to Index >> |
