To promote e-learning and encourage self-training, the Force's Information Technology Training Centre (ITTC) has developed a Computer Based Training (CBT) programme which has been uploaded on POINT for use by members of the Force.
Chief Inspector Training ITTC Susanna Woods said: "The CBT aims to teach Force members how to use various applications of the Communal Information System (CIS) such as the Common Terminal Access - Administration (CTA - Admin) System and the Formation Information Communal System (FICS)."
Force members can learn online how to use the following six functions of the CTA - Admin System:
1) Issue Password and Release Revoke ID
2) Active/Suspend User
3) Grant Application Access Right
4) Query On User/Application
5) Query On Audit Log
6) Query On Log for Grant Access Right.
The ITTC has also developed a Chinese version for teaching Force members how to use the following six functions of the FICS:
1) Introduction to FICS functions
2) Creation of report case
3) Input personal particulars
4) Role sequence re-order and Matching of Arrested Person
5) Details of Incident and Arrested Person
6) Vehicle Information
"With the rapid development in the use of information technology, and with the continuous upgrading of computer related technology, the Force CIS has been upgraded to CIS Version 7.0 with enhancement in the Property Administration function," Mrs Woods said.
She noted that the new version had been released to all CIS workstations by the Information Technology Branch between January and February. Information in Chinese on how to use the Property Administration function will also be added to the CBT programme.
Mrs Woods added: "Users can learn how to use various CIS functions through the CBT programme and can familiarise themselves with the new CIS version prior to attending the 'Train the trainers' courses at the ITTC. After the course, the trained officers are expected to provide in-house training at their respective formations."
