Police showcase quality service |

In support of the Serving the Community Festival 2002 organised by the Government, various Police formations held a fortnight of activities starting on January 20. Assistant Commissioner Service Quality Harry Blud said: "The main objectives for taking part in the Festival are to showcase the variety of quality service that the Force has been providing and its commitment to the concept of continuous improvement, and to benchmark with other Government departments in the provision of quality service to the community." Highlights of the Force activities included open days at the Western, Kwun Tong, Sham Shui Po, Tai Po and Tsuen Wan Police Stations, the Marine Harbour Division Base and Road Safety Towns. There were also a variety of crime prevention and road safety activities comprising of seminars, school visits and good citizen award presentation ceremonies. Officers also visited the elderly in hospitals and homes for the aged. The Police booth at the Festival opening carnival held at the Tamar Site on January 20 drew a large number of visitors many of whom were attracted by the new Police motorcycles and the Saxon armoured vehicle on display, and the performances by the Police Band and Police dogs. Many also took part in a fight crime game. In the 2002 Tuen Mun District Fight Crime Carnival held on January 27, prizes were presented to 10 officers from Tuen Mun District, Tuen Mun Division and Castle Peak Division. They were voted for outstanding leadership and service to the community in the "Commendable Police Election Campaign" organised by the Tuen Mun District Fight Crime Committee. Meanwhile, 40 civic-minded citizens who have assisted in fighting crime received awards at the Good Citizen Award Presentation Ceremony organised by the Police Public Relations Branch on January 24.
