At a ceremony held at Police Headquarters on December 3, Commissioner Mr Tsang Yam-pui presented an appreciation letter and Commissioner's Commendation to four officers for foiling a kidnapping attempt by an armed syndicate, and for carrying out an anti-triad operation. Mr Tsang presented the appreciation letter to Superintendent Cheung Kwai-kee in recognition of his leadership, professional ability and devotion to duty of a very high order while in command of an intelligence-led operation in March 2002. The operation had resulted in the arrest of two men and the seizure of a pistol with five rounds of ammunition, explosives and detonators. The men were subsequently jailed for nine years for possessing firearm, ammunition and explosives. Chief Inspector Wun Chun-leung and Senior Inspector Chung Chi-ming were presented with the Commissioner's Commendation for their leadership, professional ability and devotion to duty of an exceptionally high order displayed in the operation. Mr Tsang also presented the Commissioner's Commendation to Station Sergeant Chang Chun-lap for professionalism and devotion to duty of an exceptional high order displayed during an anti-triad operation, resulting in the arrest and prosecution of 55 suspects.
