Congratulatory messages from well-wishers | ||
News of Mr Tsang's retirement has reached far and near, and congratulatory messages have come from local organisations and media, overseas law enforcement agencies, and former colleagues from overseas.
OffBeat has learned that among the local and overseas well-wishers are Vision 2047 Foundation in Hong Kong, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the U.S. Department of Justice, and Mr Eric Blackburn, a former Deputy Commissioner of Police.
Part of the letter from the Chairman of Vision 2047 Foundation, Mr Robert Dorfman, reads: "... we are grateful for all you have done over the years to keep law and order in Hong Kong. We often pride ourselves in our meetings with overseas visitors on the fact that this is one of the safest places to live, raise a family and work. Your contribution to this is in no small part. Thank you."
The FBI Director, Mr Robert Mueller, III said in his letter to Mr Tsang: "During your tenure with the HKPF, you have guided the dedicated HKPF through numerous positive changes and contributed to your agency's status as a law enforcement leader. Through your extraordinary efforts, the admirable traditional culture of professionalism, service, education and physical fitness of the HKPF has been further enhanced, making the HKPF one of the most respected law enforcement agencies in the world.
"Your many years of assistance, friendship, and support to the FBI are deeply appreciated by all your friends and colleagues at the FBI."
Part of Mr Blackburn's letter to Mr Tsang reads: "Clearly you have gone through a most trying period and have led the Force extremely well and, more importantly, put the long-term interest above all else. As I said whatever else you do in life you will always be regarded as a highly successful Commissioner of Police." |
