Input your talents for performing special tasks

Everybody has the ability to do something well through knowledge acquired, training received or experience. Presently, management and supervisory officers may only know the ability you have acquired through formal Force training.

How about your other abilities or talents? Electrical engineering, accounting, security management, computer programming, jet flying, vehicle maintenance, catering, life saving, first aid, orienteering, taekwando, golf, playing musical instruments, acting, painting, sign language, hakka dialect, etc. The list is not exhaustive. You could have acquired some of these skills through formal education or private study, or informally through your previous occupation, hobbies, voluntary work and your daily dealings with other people.

As long as you believe in your abilities or talents, you can register in PICS through "Input My Skill" under "My PICS" shortcut key, or you can ask your GR staff to input the information for you through "Personal Qualification Maintenance" under "Qualification Maintenance". Verification of your skill, i.e. production of certificate or any form of recognition, is not required since management officers looking for your skill will have to find out whether you are suitable or not.

You can input any ability or talent (in Chinese or English) as you think fit. The more you have input, the greater is the chance that management officers all over the Force will discover you when the opportunity for performing special duties or tasks arises.

Inspectors and above can run a skill search for all Force members with particular skills through a simple on screen three step self-explanatory "Search for Skill" function accessible through "My Secy" shortcut key. Comprehensive security measures have been implemented to protect the personal data of the officers.
