Seminar on handling of "ice" manufacturing centres |
||
Narcotics Bureau (NB) and the Government Laboratory recently organised a seminar on the handling of methamphetamine (commonly known as "ice") manufacturing centres for over 200 officers from Crime Wing and various Police Regions at Police Headquarters. Presentations on the manufacturing processes for "ice", the common equipment and chemicals required and the safety precautions in handling such scenes, were delivered by Dr Tam Wai-ming, Dr Lee Wing-sze and Dr Lo Kam-moon from the Controlled Drugs Section, Government Laboratory. The presentations drew active response from participants, with many practical and constructive questions raised. The Government Laboratory experts were extremely pleased with the good response and strongly believed that such seminars would help to further enhance the co-operation of both departments, and create a better understanding of the operational difficulties encountered by the police in anti-narcotics enforcement. NB Senior Superintendent, Mr John Paul Ribeiro, concluded the seminar and encouraged participants to suggest topics of concern to the Bureau for arrangements of more seminars.
