Since the "Individual Travel Scheme" was implemented in July 2003, more and more Mainland tourists have been flocking to Tsim Sha Tsui for shopping. But at the same time, they are potential preys of criminals. To protect Mainland tourists from crime, Yau Tsim District, with the assistance of the AV Team of Shatin Baptist Church, has produced a video clip to alert them of the modus operandi of different crimes. Copies of the video clip, produced in Putonghua in compact disc format, were distributed to the Hong Kong Association of Registered Tour Co-ordinators, Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Hotels Association before the Golden Week commencing on May 1 this year, in the hope that the messages of the modus operandi will be conveyed to Mainland tourists through different channels and levels. The video clip illustrates six common modus operandi targeting Mainland tourists, including pickpocket, deception on phone, deception by money-dropping gangs and theft in hotel lobbies. Following its release, the tourist and hotel industries have offered full co-operation in conveying the relevant messages to Mainland tourists. Apart from the video clip, Yau Tsim District will adopt other measures to ensure that all tourists have a pleasant holiday in Hong Kong.
Many sectors have found YTDIST's anti-crime video clip very useful
