Acting Airport District (APTDIST) Commander Wong Siu-hing received a Corporate Safety Performance Award at the "Airport Staff Safety Recognition Scheme" presentation ceremony hosted by the Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) on March 26.
To foster a safety culture for the airport community and heighten their awareness of safety, the AAHK organised an "Airport Staff Safety Recognition Scheme 2012/13" competition earlier this year. Subsequently, an AAHK judging panel awarded the Corporate Safety Performance Award to APTDIST for its commitment to providing a safe and wholesome working environment for staff and enhancing their safety awareness at the workplace.
The judging panel assessed all the private and public organisations in the airport on their efforts and performances in Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) issues.
Accident prevention measures and promotion of OSH awareness were some of the assessment criteria. A total of 21 organisations were selected for the Corporate Safety Performance Award.
Speaking at the award presentation ceremony, AAHK Executive Director (Airport Operations), Mr C K Ng, emphasised that the winners ensured the safety of their staff at work with personal protective equipment, safety instructions and training, as well as promotion of a safety culture. He appreciated their co-operation, which, he noted, contributed to making the Hong Kong International Airport a safe workplace.
