The Employee Retraining Board (ERB) has awarded the status of Manpower Developer (MD) 2013-2015 to the Force for outstanding achievements in manpower training and development. This is the first time the Force has participated in the "ERB Manpower Developer Award Scheme" and earned the award.
Launched in 2009, the scheme is held annually with the aim of cultivating a common social value to attach great importance to manpower training and development.
To ensure the impartiality and credibility of the scheme, expertise and support from different sources are enlisted for the management, implementation and promotion of the scheme. It is the first accreditation system to assess the level of maturity of manpower training and development strategies and practices of organisations in Hong Kong.
Since 2009, a total of 245 organisations have been honoured as MDs. This year, 62 organisations, including the Force, from 24 industries have been awarded MD status whilst another 52 organisations have their MD status renewed for another two years.
In December 2012, the Force completed the whole accreditation process, which consisted of a preliminary review and an on-site assessment.
On April 25, Director of Personnel and Training Chau Kwok-leung received the award on behalf of the Force from the Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung.
The Force is entitled to display the designated MD logo in its promotional activities or materials from April 1, 2013 to March 31, 2015 to show its commitment to provide quality manpower training and development for staff. The usage guideline and the logo's specifications are available on the Frequently Used Links on Point.
