In anticipation of an influx of Mainland tourists to Hong Kong and an outflow of local residents to the Mainland during the Mainland "Golden Week" and Labour Day, Commercial Crime Bureau (CCB) mounted a joint publicity drive on counterfeit banknotes and scams at Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau Spurline on April 26 and 29.
Taking part in the publicity drive were officers from the Regional Crime Prevention Office of New Territories North and the Police Community Relations Office of Border District, as well as frontline officers. Members of Border Junior Police Call and Border Senior Police Call, and volunteers from Bradbury Sheung Shui Family Centre lent a helping hand in the drive. The officers and volunteers distributed leaflets to the public and answered their enquiries on how to identify counterfeit banknotes and prevent scams including Pyramid Selling and Loco London Gold Fraud.
