Applications are invited for the Mainland and Overseas Summer Course Sponsorship Scheme of the Police Welfare Fund for children of officers to attend summer courses on the Mainland or overseas.
A total of 73 places are available for police children on a proportional basis. The number of sponsored place and the maximum amount of subsidy for each application are: one place (with $1,000 or 70 per cent of course fee, whichever is the less) for Senior Superintendent and Superintendent; seven places (each with $2,000 subject to the same condition) for Inspectorate officer; and 65 places (each with $3,000 subject to the same condition) for Junior Police Officer.
Applicant should be a serving officer, and his or her child should be either blood related or legally adopted and has never been sponsored by the scheme. If both parents are officers, only one of them may apply.
A child should be aged above 12 and below 21 on June 1, 2013, i.e. born between June 1, 1992 and May 31, 2001.
Applicants can choose courses on the Mainland or overseas (except Macao and Taiwan), subject to the endorsement of the Force. The course programme should generally be held in the period between June and August, and organised by reputable institutions or organisations. General sightseeing tours or regular school programmes will not be accepted.
The deadline for applications is May 23. Application form, which is available from Force Noticeboard or the Website of Personnel Services and Staff Relations (PS&SR) Branch, should be submitted to PS&SR Branch (Attn.: EO SUP 2), with copies of the child's birth certificate and school reports for the academic year 2011-2012, including the Second Term.
