Shortly before his retirement, Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Tang Kam-moon inspected about 180 members of the Auxiliary Police Force as a Reviewing Officer at their passing-out parade on July 26 following Annual Continuation Training.
Speaking at the parade, Mr Tang said that auxiliary officers provide valuable support to their regular counterparts and display a high level of professionalism in frontline duties, as well as in festivities and major public events.
"In my police career, I have worked with auxiliary officers in many different positions. They worked closely with regular officers in handling many challenging jobs. Auxiliary officers have played an indispensable role in our daily policing work," Mr Tang added.
Noting that while auxiliary officers have the same police power as regular officers, Mr Tang pointed out that both are subject to the same requirement in terms of behaviour and integrity.
"No matter you are a regular or auxiliary officer, you must clearly understand and live up to the Force's vision, purposes and values. No matter on or off duty, you should always set an example of implementing the Force's integrity management, and strictly observe information security regulations," Mr Tang told the officers on parade.
All auxiliary officers have to attend the seven-day Annual Continuation Training, which provides information on the latest legislation and police regulations, as well as revision of police knowledge and skills, including crowd management, key point protection, resistance control and weapon training.
