With cycling getting increasingly popular with all age groups, especially youths in summer holiday, Traffic New Territories South (T NTS) launched a Safe Cycling Promotion Campaign known as "Wise Ride Pilot 2013" with a multi-agency approach on July 20.

T NTS Senior Superintendent Pat Laidler and Sha Tin Deputy District Commander Angela Chiu officiated at the kick-off ceremony in Sha Tin Central Park. Pitching in for the campaign were Traffic Headquarters, Road Safety Council, NTS Regional Road Safety Patrol, Traffic and Transport Committee of Sha Tin District Council, Auxiliary Medical Service, Hong Kong Red Cross, Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, and HKSKH Lady MacLehose Centre.

Throughout this yearlong campaign, "Wise Ride" Ambassadors will disseminate messages related to safe cycling to cyclists on the cycling tracks in Sha Tin, such as  proper use of cycling track, cycling accident black-spots and first aids. They will also demonstrate safe cycling skills and the proper way to check bicycle before setting off.
