Following a summer break, Police mini rugby training resumed on August 18 for its third season. Since the first training session was held in June 2011 with nine children, membership now stands at over 100, ranging in age from three to 11. And more kids are joining every week.
Mini Rugby offers an excellent way for children to stay healthy, master new skills and make new friends in a safe environment. The training, conducted by qualified coaches and members of the Police Rugby Club, is open to both boys and girls up to the age of 11 with no previous experience required. Training takes place at Police Sports and Recreation Club every Sunday between 10 am and 11:30 am. The training is free of charge, except playing kit, which is charged at face value with no profit made.
In the forthcoming season, Police mini rugby teams will enter many festivals and take on children from other rugby clubs. The festivals are large family events, which will be held on Sunday morning, offering a lot of fun and an opportunity for police kids to mix with other kids and improve skills and teamwork.
