Director of Personnel and Training Chau Kwok-leung led a Force delegation to visit the Tibet Municipal Public Security Bureau between August 19 and 23 and officiated at the graduation ceremony of the Force mobile tactics training held at the People's Police Training Base in Linzhi County, Tibet Autonomous Region.
The training was the 21st course jointly organised by the Ministry of Public Security and the Force, following the one held in Qinghai last month. Superintendent (Weapons Training) Chan Wing-leung and seven instructors from the Weapons Training Division provided intensive training for four days for 50 public security officers. At the training base situated at 3,000 metres above sea level, the instructors had to overcome the adverse reactions to high altitude such as headache, insomnia and shortness of breath. Inadequate oxygen and intensive training posed a big challenge for their physical and psychological fitness. Notwithstanding such situation, the instructors displayed professionalism and dedication, which was highly appreciated by the Tibet Municipal Public Security Bureau. The trainees were glad to have their knowledge of tactics enhanced and build up friendship with the instructors.
In the graduation ceremony on August 28, Mr Chau presented certificates to 50 trainees and introduced the tactics developed by the Force and the background of the exchange in tactics training between the Force and the Ministry of Public Security. Finally, he appreciated the support and assistance given by the Ministry of Public Security, the Police Liaison Department of the Liaison Offices of the Central People's Government in Hong Kong, and the Tibet Municipal Public Security Bureau. He also praised the trainees for displaying dedication, perseverance and endurance.
During the trip, the Force delegation visited the Tibet Police Officers Institute and attended a seminar to share their experience of police training. The delegation also had discussions on police knowledge and experience with the Public Security Bureau of the Autonomous Region and the Public Security Office of the Linzhi County.
