As soon as residents are moving into their new homes in Kai Ching Estate, the first public housing estate in Kai Tak Development Area, the Regional Crime Prevention Office of Kowloon East (RCPO KE) immediately sees the need of bringing messages of crime prevention to the residents.

As Kai Ching Estate has six blocks with a total of about 5,200 flats, RCPO KE distributed crime prevention leaflets to, and organises crime prevention seminars for, the residents. At the seminars, crime prevention trailers were played and question-and-answer sessions were held.

The residents welcomed the seminars and many of them asked officers for advice on domestic security. RCPO KE hopes that through the seminars and the related publicity, a safe community would be established in Kai Tak Development Area.

Besides RCPO KE's publicity efforts, the Kowloon East Regional Anti-Triad Unit and Sau Mau Ping District Anti-Triad Section have mounted operations in the estate in a bid to prevent bad elements from monopolising flat decoration works in the new estate.
