A delegation of 100 Junior Police Call (JPC) members from 20 Police Districts, including JPC advanced leaders and leaders, and led by Director of Personnel and Training Chau Kwok-leung and Police Public Relations Branch (PPRB) Senior Superintendent (SSP) Kong Man-keung, visited Beijing and Inner Mongolia on a Cultural Exchange Programme in July. The programme is an annual event designed for JPC members to enrich their knowledge of Chinese history and culture, and have more interaction with the youths on the Mainland.  

On July 23, Mr Chau, Mr Ng Siu-keung, a member of the JPC Central Advisory Board and the JPC delegation, together with various Hong Kong uniformed youth groups, visited the Great Hall of the People.

Early the next day, the JPC delegation and another member of the JPC Central Advisory Board, Dr Cheng Shing-fung, attended a flag-raising ceremony at the Tiananmen Square, alongside about 1,000 members of uniformed youth groups from Hong Kong and Mainland.   Thereafter, Mr Chau and the JPC members visited the Beijing Police Museum, while Mr Kong and staff of the PPRB JPC and Youth Liaison Section visited the Information and Public Relations Office of the Beijing Public Security Bureau for sharing of experience of youth development work.

After the Beijing visit, SSP Kong led the JPC delegation to Inner Mongolia, where the delegation toured the Control Centre of the Hohhot Municipal Public Security Bureau, the Inner Mongolia University, the Inner Mongolia Museum and the Government Office in Hohhot. The JPC members experienced the Mongolian way of life and culture when they spent a night in the Mongolian Yurts on the Xilamuren Grassland.

On July 27, the JPC delegation moved on to Baotou Province, where they visited the Xiangshawan desert, an iron and steel production plant, and a historic spot - Wudangzhao.  

Before returning to Hong Kong, the JPC members toured the Exhibition Hall of the National Sports Training Centre in Beijing, savouring the success stories and efforts behind the trophies, medals and uniforms of Mainland’s Olympic athletes.
