The Strategic Directions cover engaging the community, enhancing the personal and professional qualities of Force members, strengthening criminal intelligence gathering Force-wide, and supporting frontline units. The Strategic Action Plan comprises 16 key projects in support of the Strategic Directions.

The Force's Digital Communications Platform gains the Best Terrestrial Trunked Radio Innovation Award against competition that includes the United Kingdom Police Airwaves and Stockholm Metro etc.

The Detective Tour and the Digital Presentation System of the Hong Kong Police College receive Bronze Awards in the Best Public Service Application (Transformation) Award and Best Public Service Application (Small Scale Project) Award of the Hong Kong Information and Communications Technology Awards 2012.

Force wins the Five Years Plus Caring Organisation Logo
The Force is thrice awarded the Five Years Plus Caring Organisation Logo for having demonstrated good corporate citizenship in caring for the community, employees and the environment. The award is presented to organisations attaining the Caring Organisation Logo for five consecutive years or above.

Behavioural Guidelines Video achieves the Gold Award
of the 2012 QUESTAR Awards
A behavioural guidelines video, Shun Chai's 48 hours, produced by Marine Region captures Gold Award in the 2012 QUESTAR Awards under the Staff Training category. The video outdoes 100 entries from Australia, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Singapore, Russia, the United States, the Mainland and Hong Kong.

Force launches mobile application
To strengthen community engagement as well as to enhance
internal communications, the Force launches Hong Kong Police
Mobile Application. The application can be downloaded by using smart phones. It enables users to gain access to the latest Police information anytime and anywhere. By using the platform of social media, the Force aims to better understand the needs
of society and to provide timely, direct and efficient responses so that community support will be further encouraged.

Hong Kong Police Night for the Chest
The Force and the Community Chest of Hong Kong jointly present the Hong Kong Police Night for the Chest 2012, comprising the Chief Executive's Night and the Commissioner of Police's Night. The event is staged to raise funds for the needy and to demonstrate the Force's sense of responsibility as well as commitment to engaging and serving the community.
