Formed in 1974, the SDU celebrated its 40th Anniversary this year. Popularly known as Flying Tiger Squad, the SDU is one of the most important counter-terrorism teams within the Force. The SDU is committed to maintaining the highest operational effectiveness as well as the highest level of professionalism to protect different sectors of the community.
The SPC Scheme aims to promote crime prevention, and convey fight crime, domestic and road safety messages to the elderly. The scheme is a good example of Police-community partnership.
The JPC Scheme, launched in 1974, encourages youngsters to work in partnership with the community to fight crime. The scheme trains members to be future leaders in serving the community and promotes positive peer influence in tackling juvenile delinquency.
To mark its 170th Anniversary, the Force stages two charity concerts to raise funds for the needy and to demonstrate its tradition of serving the community.
To celebrate its 170th Anniversary, the Force stages an exhibition with Serving the Community Over the Centuries as the theme at the former Wan Chai Police Station between May and June.
On June 26, the enhanced Probationary Inspector (PI) and Recruit Police Constable (RPC) training programmes have been accredited by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications. Upon completion of training, RPCs and PIs respectively receive the "Professional Diploma in Policing" and the "Professional Diploma in Leadership and Management in Policing", meeting the accreditation standards of the Hong Kong Qualifications Framework Level 4 or Level 5.
The new Detective Training Centre, located at the former Lei Muk Shue Operational Base, has opened on September 5 and formally operated on November 10. The Force hopes the centre will provide world-class detective training programmes and facilities.
The exhibition – A Diamond Police Formation to Beat Drugs for a Better Hong Kong – illustrates NB’s efforts in combating drug trafficking and money laundering activities over the past six decades.
Established in 1974, CAPO celebrates its 40th Anniversary this year. Committed to providing quality services, CAPO does not only handle every complaint professionally, but also endeavours to improve and streamline its handling procedures to enhance the credibility of the Force.
The Force is awarded the Five Years Plus Caring Organisation Logo by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service for five consecutive years for demonstrating good corporate social responsibility in caring for the community, employees and the environment.
"Generation 2+", the champion video of the Living-the-Values Workshop Microfilm Production Competition, captures two international awards in the 2014 Questar Awards – the Gold Award for Corporate Internal Communications and the Grand Award for Best of Internal Communications.
The Personnel Information Communal System II is awarded Best Business Solution (Application) Certificate of Merit and the Mini-Range Training System is awarded Best Innovation (Entrepreneurial Innovation) Certificate of Merit in the Hong Kong ICT Awards 2014.
The Force wins the 2014 Leader of the Year Award in the Community/Public Affairs/Environment & Conservation category. The Award is organised by Sing Tao News Corporation.
