Police College has announced the results of the 3rd Force Research Award Scheme (FRAS). On September 24, the presentation ceremony of FRAS was held in the Auditorium at Police Headquarters, where three finalist teams presented their research findings in a Best Presentation Awards Competition before the guest of honour, Deputy Commissioner (Management) Chau Kwok-leung, the adjudication panel led by former Commissioner of Police, Mr Dick Lee, and 300 Force members.
Following the competition, which was marked with a fruitful exchange of intellectual wisdom, a distinguished guest, Prof Edward Chen Kwan-yiu, gave a keynote speech titled "The Education and Lifelong Learning in the ICT (Information & Communications Technology) and Internet-Plus Economy."
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of 17 awards for nine categories to 19 officers for both their efforts to conduct high quality evidence-based research and contributions to practical policing.
Launched in September last year with "Excellence in Policing" as a theme, the 3rd FRAS aimed at encouraging and recognising the research efforts within the Force and enhancing Force members' research capability. A total of 60 officers at the ranks of Police Constable to Senior Superintendent participated in the 3rd FRAS as authors or co-authors of 33 papers for 17 awards for Individual, Team and Major Formation categories.
After rounds of adjudication and moderation, Honorary College Advisors, who are academic, professionals and retired senior officers, picked the winning entries.
