Kowloon West Regional Commander Cheuk Hau-yip presided over the opening ceremony of the New Generation Report Room at Mong Kok Police Station on May 10. He then toured the new facilities in the company of Mong Kok District (MKDIST) Commander Bradley Wright.


Also attending the opening ceremony included Chief Superintendent of the Planning and Development Branch Lee Nga-lai, Yau Tsim Mong District Officer Mrs Laura Aron, Yau Tsim Mong District Council member Mr Chow Chun-fai and Chairperson of Yau Tsim Mong District Fight Crime Committee Ms Chan Heung-lin.


The New Generation Report Room is furnished with modernised facilities to enhance security, privacy protection and service quality. The Interview Rooms, Arrest Processing System Rooms and detention cells are located on the same floor to strengthen monitoring. In addition, the Report Room is equipped with semi-enclosed reporting booths as well as a trauma room for vulnerable witnesses and victims. Furthermore, an electronic queuing system and barrier-free facilities are available to optimise services for the public.


In addition, the detention facilities have adopted a number of technological initiatives to streamline workflow, support frontline officers and enhance protection of detained persons. The initiatives included the installation of a closed-circuit television monitoring system in detention cells, an e-cell check and e-alert system and an e-locker system. Other enhanced facilities included a padded Temporary Holding Area with transparent polycarbonate gate.
