Traffic Kowloon West (T KW), in conjunction with the Regional Crime Unit (RCU) and Regional Crime Prevention Office (RCPO) of KW, met with representatives from several food delivery platforms on August 27 to discuss a collaborative mechanism and a pilot scheme to address illegal activities involving couriers, such as traffic violations and other criminal offences. The representatives from the platforms reached a preliminary agreement with the Force to strengthen the management of couriers’ conduct. In addition to assisting the Force’s investigation, the platforms would also implement internal disciplinary measures to penalise couriers who use electric mobility devices or commit serious traffic offences and freeze their accounts so as to minimise road safety risks.

Moreover, representatives from RCU KW suggested enhancing the application of technology on the platforms to prevent couriers from lending their accounts to other individuals, including illegal workers. KW RCPO also proposed the platforms include an anti-fraud message in their mobile apps to raise public awareness of fraud prevention.
