The CareLinks Cadre held its 19th Annual Conference on November 23, 2024. Over 80 Carelinkers gathered to share the achievements of their services in the past year, during which CareLinks Cadre organised 15 sharing sessions and served over 1 000 participants.
On the day, Superintendent of the Police College Ng Hoi-wai, in his capacity as a certified instructor in Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) personality type assessment, conducted a workshop on MBTI for the Carelinkers. He introduced the theory and concepts of MBTI to help attendees understand their personality traits, identify their strengths and recognise potential challenges. Senior Clinical Psychologist Mak Wing-fun presented the 2025 appointment certificates to the Carelinkers to acknowledge their contributions to promoting mental health within the Force. She also encouraged them to continue their efforts in the new year.
Carelinks Cadre, which was established by the Psychological Services Group in 2005, comprises police officers and civilian personnel of different ranks. Members join the Cadre on a voluntary basis as Carelinkers to promote a positive life within the Force and help colleagues in need. The services cater to officers across all age groups, including not only Recruit Police Constables (RPC) and Probationary Inspectors under training but also other serving officers and their families. At the beginning and towards the end of the RPC’s training, sharing sessions and stress-relief activities are held to help them enhance their stress resilience and build a support network.
The CareLinks Cadre will celebrate its 20th anniversary in July 2025. A series of promotional activities will be launched to continue disseminating mental health information to colleagues and foster a culture of care within the Force. Please stay tuned for these upcoming events.
Listening Ears, Caring Voice
Another key service provided by CareLinks Cadre is the CareLinks Hotline managed by senior Carelinkers who have received specific related training. The hotline offers a safe and trustworthy avenue for personnel in need to express their feelings and provides immediate emotional counselling. Last year, the hotline’s volunteers contributed over 150 hours of service. Colleague in need of assistance may call 9810-0202 to contact the CareLinks volunteers.
