November, CP Hui presented a Commissioner's Commendation to CIP Chung Siu-yeung
(left) for his involvement in the investigation into the Garley Building Fire in Yau Ma Tei
while attached to the Special Investigation Team Crime KW between November 96 and
July 97.
SP Steve Wordsworth (second from left) from OPS Wing received a Letter of Appreciation for his contribution to ensuring the smooth relocation of the airport from May to early July this year. |

Commissioner of Police Eddie Hui Ki-on
recently presented a promotion letter toSo Kam-sing of the Narcotics Bureau who was
promoted to the rank of Superintendent on August 3.
Five police officers who were on leave or at overseas courses during the time of the previous presentation ceremonies also received their promotion letters. They were: Chief Superintendent of the Commercial Crime Bureau Lo Yik-kee; Senior Superintendent of Sha Tin District Cheng Se-lim; Superintendent of the Commercial Crime Bureau Matthew Hemmings; Superintendent of the Special Duties Unit Barry Smith; and Superintendent of Marine Dominique Ziemann. |

ON 1 December the Crime Prevention
Bureau went live with their Research and Analysis Industry Data Base System (RAIDS).
To improve the Bureau's quality of service, CPB has developed a computer database containing information on companies that manufacture and/or supply security-related equipment. The system is used to answer enquiries from private organisatoins, government departments, members of the public etc., who can be supplied with the details of all of the companies listed which manufacture or supply the type of security-related equipment requested.
