I am Kiki, a JPC Leader from Shatin District. After reading a travel journal about working holiday in Australia, I decided to give it a go and create my own story.
At first, I went to Melbourne to work as a waitress. Most of the customers are Chinese and I could not practise my English there. Therefore, I wanted to try something new.
After that, I worked in a strawberry farm. I met people from different countries, learning their languages and cultures. We organised parties and went fishing when we had day off. I met two best friends there and we travelled around. We even bought a car together. I earned valuable friendship there.
Then I got a chance to work in a winery with my best friends. We did labelling and bottling in the winery. We always talked with the winemaker so as to learn more about wine, such as the process of making wine.
In the module D of JPC training course, we need to build up our leadership skills. I put what I learnt from JPC to daily life in Australia. This trip also led me to become an independent person and improved my problem solving skills. I understand the importance of jumping out of our comfort zone. Maybe it is hard to step out, but you have to try; otherwise, you will never know what you can learn. (Ms LEUNG Wing-ki, JPC leader of Shatin District)
