I have participated in the police station open day held by Wong Tai Sin Police District in November as a JPC reporter. It was an eye-opening and remarkable experience as police station is not always open to the public. After the ceremony, we enjoyed performances by the Hong Kong Police Band, orchestra performance by a local secondary school and a breathtaking performance performed by a police dog and its handler, it was flawless and spectacular! Other than various phenomenal performances, there were also game booths organized by JPC members from other Kowloon East districts and booths introducing different police units, promoting fight-crime messages and other positive values to visitors.
I also had an interview with Wong Tai Sin Police District Commander who shared some of his thoughts towards this event. He believed that it was a precious opportunity for citizens to have a greater understanding of the Police Force and JPC through fun activities. The open day involved the co-operation and participation from various stakeholders of the Wong Tai Sin community, including Senior Police Call, students and the non-ethnic Chinese community. This event did not only promote the Police Force to the public, but also the social inclusion in our community as it acted as a platform for citizens to understand and be connected with each other.
To sum up, I am impressed by this special experience, I would definitely attend the open day organized by other Police districts!
