Police dogs always give a majestic image. But in Queensland, Australia, a police dog was dismissed simply because of its kind character. Gavel, this police dog, had undertaken a 16-month training and fulfilled all police dog requirements with its actions and responses. It, however, was a sociable dog that was nice to strangers and loved playing with the trainer. The Police reckoned Gavel would rather play than arrest and had to send him away.

Gavel was immediately offered a career twist by the local government. He now stations and greets visitors at the Governor’s House. The gentle Gavel makes all people around him happy and the Queenslanders also cheer for Gavel for his full demonstration of fitting into this job.
