Standup paddle boarding (SUP) is a water sport born from surfing, boarders stand on boards that are floating on water and use a paddle to propel themselves through the water. One of the attractions of SUP is that it is thought to a good fitness training tool, the benefit of it is that it burns a lot of calories as it works your entire body, reduces stress because water sport has been known to have a relaxing effect on human body and mind It is also a low impact exercise which means that it is gentle to your body and the chance of muscular injury is low. SUP involves standing, balancing and paddling. It can train boarders' multitasking skill and sense of concentration.
WTS JPC brought us to the SUP class on July 18 and July 25 was a memorable experience because it was new and exciting to all the beginners. We have learnt the basic skills and techniques in the first lesson and apply them afterwards by setting up and launching to basic paddling skills and how we use our core while playing on board, everything is fascinating and engaging. In lesson two, we have our SUP stage exam by showing skills that we have learnt in the previous week. After falling and practising, we could achieve the required standard in both stand up canoe techniques and theoretical knowledge at SUP first two stages.
I will not regret joining SUP class because I have learnt a lot in that two days lesson, for example, the importance of communication within parters and cooperation when we are in the middle of the sea or facing challenges like big waves while we are playing. We successfully graduated and I would like to do it again in the future.
