Summer holiday has ended in a blink of an eye. It is the beginning of a new school year. I started my study in Australia last year. But the classes were held through online video conferencing platforms owing to the pandemic. Although it is not easy to get used to it, I have tried my best to adapt the way of learning.
To be honest, it was really hard to concentrate in the classes while having all sorts of distractions at home, such as my dog barking and disturbance from my younger sister. Notwithstanding, I always focused my attention on my teachers, jotted down notes and raised questions.
There is a big difference between having lessons in Hong Kong and Australia. In Hong Kong, teachers mostly dominate the lesson by teaching us with PowerPoint, and we just sit still and listen. On the contrary, in Australia, lessons are given in a more interactive way. We do a lot of interactions with teachers and classmates. We have emphasis on discussions and experiments from time to time rather than just listening to theory taught by teachers. Lessons in Australia are more interesting. At least, we will not get bored easily.
I hope I can return to Australia for study in the school in the coming year quickly. I love their way of learning, and communicating with schoolmates of different backgrounds. I can also improve my English by associating more with them. Hopefully, I can meet them in person in the near future.
