Life is like a marathon, there are ups and downs in our life. I have been enthusiastic about running since my school days but at that time I did not understand the meaning of running and just kept repeating the same action. As time goes by, running inspires me about the significance of perseverance, and cultivates my never-give-up attitude.
I was honoured to be a member of the school running team and the Hong Kong Youth Team. However, when I grew up, I found that many people run faster than me and thus felt very frustrated. I started to reflect on my failure, and then realised that I had put the focus mistakenly on winning awards. So I changed my perception of running. Getting an award could be a motivation for me, yet enjoying the running exercise is much more important.
Soon after I joined the Force, I participated in the contests run by the Police Athletics Club. Not only could I learn from my coach and colleagues about the skills of running, but my horizons about work and life have also been broadened. Like running, I hope I could apply the spirit of perseverance and determination to achieve my life goal.
