I have never made any pottery. I had a golden opportunity to join the “Pottery experience workshop” with the members of Border JPC on October 6.

When we arrived at the centre, the tutor told us some basic ideas about pottery. Then he showed us some end-products. I found them amazing. They were attractive and durable.

Then the tutor started teaching us how to make our own products. When I first touched the clay, I thought it’s impossible to turn it into pottery. The clay was so wet and soft. How could I make a bowl with it? Then he taught us how to make the pottery step by step. We first put the clay onto the machine. And we tried to make it in the shape we wanted. Finally, we had some procedures to make it smooth and dry.

I really learnt a lot from this trial lesson. First of all, I know the importance of patience. If I were impatient, I would give up before finishing the final product. When I have problems, I should try my best to encounter them and never think of quitting. We may succeed one day if we keep doing our work. Once we give up, we will never arrive atour destination.

I would like to express my gratitude to the tutor. Without his support, I would never have a chance to finish my first pottery. I hope I will have another chance to learn to make another one in the near future.
