Hong Kong has been fighting against coronavirus for months, in which every citizen shows their best effort in following precautionary measures as propagated by the government for avoiding further transmission of the virus in the community. As citizen are required to avoid gathering, yet, some outdoor activities in small group are recommended. This time, I would like to recommend hiking to you all, which is one of my favorite outdoor activities. I am going to introduce a hiking trail where I love so much, called the “Shing Mun Reservoir”.

This trail is one of the easiest and popular trails that is suitable for parent-child activity in Hong Kong. My family and I had been to there for hiking during last weekend. Upon arrival at the starting point of the trail, we took photos in front of an arch with headline of “Shing Mun Country Park”, as a beginning of our venture. During the hike, I saw some monkeys, forests, waterfalls along the trail, and I found some people were jogging and taking photograph. But things that impressed me most were the beauty of nature, stunning scenery of the reservoir, and biodiversity, which would not be able to learn at school.

Here are some tips for you before you decided to go hiking. We have to be well-prepared and plan ahead before you go on hiking so as to ensure yor trip to be a safe and enjoyable one. I suggest every hiker to bring along appropriate equipment, such as hiking stick, first aid kit, medicine for emergency, sufficient water, compass and a map. It is also necessary to ensure weather of the day to be suitable for hiking, as the risk of hiking will increase if the weather is bad or in extreme.
