JPC Member of Kwai Tsing District
SUEN Man-yan

To start with, I am grateful for the valuable opportunity to learn bowling which was provided by Junior Police Call during the summer holiday in 2021.

Junior Police Call organised a competition of bowling. Before the competition, we had five lessons to learn how to play bowling. Lots of useful bowling skills could be learnt from our instructor. For instance, mastering the speed and having a specific posture of throwing the ball were crucial for bowling. It was not easy to master so I practised a lot to achieve the best results.

At the beginning of the practice, I didn't get a good result. Sometimes I even got zero point. However, as time went by, my results got better and better. This really made me feel joyful. Therefore, I didn't give up so easily! Moreover, I got plenty of support and encouragement from my members.

When I got a high score, they would applaud me. But when I got a low score, they would also encourage me to keep going. I was thankful for them because they were really nice and friendly.

On 25th of August, it was the date of competition. It was a very exciting competition. We were divided into several groups to compete. Each group consisted of four members from four different regions. I was one of the participants of Kwai Tsing District among four districts. Although our group did not win in the end, it was still very pleasant to participate in this competition. It was because we all did our best.

"Success is a journey, not a destination. The doing is often more important than the outcome."– Arthur Ashe, Tennis Player. It is of paramount importance to know that the process of learning is more crucial than the final result.

In conclusion, the activity of bowling is a precious experience for me. I will never forget the memories and friendship I have built in this activity. If I have another chance to take part in similar activity, I will definitely participate again.
