The Junior Police Call (JPC) Annual General Meeting 2018 cum Luncheon took place at the Police Headquarters on May 4, with over 400 JPC Central Advisory Board members, JPC Honorary Presidents, Police Community Relations Office staff and JPC members taking part in the event.
Chairperson of the JPC Central Advisory Board cum Assistant Commissioner (Support) Lam Hiu-tong presided over the meeting under the theme of "JPC 45th Anniversary". Superintendent (Community Relations) of the Police Public Relations Branch (PPRB) Wong Ping-ping reviewed JPC's activities and achievements in 2018 while Senior Superintendent (Community Relations) of the PPRB Yu Hoi-kwan outlined JPC's development plans for 2019.
The luncheon following the meeting was graced by the presence of Permanent Secretary for Security Mrs Marion Lai, Commissioner of Police cum JPC Honorary Deputy Chief President Lo Wai-chung and Acting Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Siu Chak-yee. Certificates of appreciation were presented to the JPC Honorary Presidents and JPC volunteers for their contribution to the JPC Scheme. Furthermore, Lam Hiu-tong presented certificates to outstanding Police Community Relations Officers from four districts, namely Kwun Tong District for recruiting the highest number of new members aged from six to eight, Shatin District for recruiting the highest number of new members, Mong Kok District for the highest increase in new recruits, and Tseung Kwan O District for recruiting the highest number of school clubs.
This year, Hong Kong fencing athlete Mr Cheung Siu-lun, singer and ex-JPC member Ms Lai Sui-yan as well as artistes Mr Ricco Ng and Mr Chow Ka-lok were appointed as new JPC Ambassadors. They will help promote the JPC Scheme and encourage young people to pursue their aspirations and develop positive values.
The luncheon also featured performances by JPC members from different districts, including a performance by world-class harmonica brothers Mr Wang Ming-chun and Mr Wang Ming-ho from Central District, singing of Chinese song "Below the Lion Rock" by non-ethnic Chinese member Miss Palles Thea Francesca Sangalang from Yau Tsim District, and Latin dance by Mr Lam Wai-lok, Miss Lai Hoi-ting, Mr Cheung Ho-long and Miss Kan Tin-yuet from Western District.
